The latest course in our Employment Practices series - Dealing with Issues of Alcohol and Substance Abuse - is now available.
7.09.08: First Responder Operations Level Refresher Course Launched!
The First Responder Operations Level Refresher course is now available. The 8-hour course covers essential topics for the Operations level responder, including analyzing an incident, planning and implementing a response, SCBA and PPE, decontamination, and defensive operations. It also covers NIMS and key topics in terrorism awareness. The course fulfills the requirements of NFPA 472 and 29 CFR 1910.120(q). (The course consists of four 2-hour modules.)
7.1.08: New Course Evaluation Response Process!
We’ve just released a new way for your users to receive responses to their Course Evaluations. All Course Evaluation comments are reviewed by our Content Team. Before, all responses were sent via email. Now, users can receive their responses right within the program! Users will be alerted on their Home Page when they have a new response. They can also respond directly to our Content Team and we will be alerted that they have responded. As an administrator, you can see the conversation thread between your users and our Content Team by running the “Course Evaluation Details” report!
7.1.08: New Report!
We’ve received requests from multiple Administrators for an easy way to track the training hours completed by their users. You spoke, we listened! You now have a report located within the “Assignments” report called “Activity Summary.” This report will combine all of the courses that your users have completed and the duration associated with each course so you can easily see how many training hours an individual has completed. We’ve also added an “Activity Duration” to the Custom Activity Builder so that users can specify how long the activity took them to complete, and this duration will also show up on your report.
6.16.08: New Upload Page!
Some of you have experienced some difficulties trying to upload large PowerPoint files and/or large documents into your File Center. Then, you try to email them to us so that we may upload it for you, but the document is too large to be emailed and gets lost in cyberspace. In order to alleviate this problem and not make it harder on you folks, we’ve created a new page that links right off of our corporate website where you can upload your files and we will be notified when a file has been added. We can easily retrieve the file and will let you know once we received it. This way you can rest assured that your document made it safely to us. You can access the Upload Page by going to the Support section of our corporate site, or by going to: http://upload.targetsafety.com.

5.19.08: Reports Updated
We’ve released a new report along with a consolidated Assignment Report. The new Supervisor report is available only to Administrators and shows all the Supervisors that have been designated in the system. The Supervisor report also shows what functionality a supervisor has as well as who they can oversee. The Assignment report has been updated and now combines our three most used reports into one report. The revised format allows you to flip between the different reports using a filter.

4.15.08: New Feature! Course Content Review
Course Content Review is a tool that allows users to revisit the courses that they have previously completed. Users will not be allowed to view or re-take the test at the end of the course, but they will have access to all the content. This tool is accessible to all users by going to their History and all of the available course will be links that they can then click on to get to the course content. For more information on this new feature, see our Feature Overview.
4.15.08: New Feature! Password Reset
The Password Reset Tool is a tool that gives administrators and supervisors the ability to reset the password for any standard users in the system. A new change password link has been added to the Modify User Profile page. When an administrator or supervisor enters a new password for a user, an email will be sent to the user indicating that their password has been updated. For more information on this new feature, see our Feature Overview.

3.17.08: Organizational Management Tools Update
The Organizational Management Tools (OMT) allows administrators to specify their own categories and groups within the PreventionLink system. OMT can support your organizational charts by customizing groups and assigning supervisors to oversee those groups. For more information on this feature, see our Feature Overview.
3.6.08: Self Assign Custom Activities
Self Assign Custom Activities allows a user to complete a Custom Activity without requiring assignment from an administrator or supervisor. There is no limit to the frequency and number of times the activity can be completed. For more information on this feature, see our Feature Overview.
2.26.08: Brunacini Boss Behaviors Course Launched
TargetSafety is pleased to announce the release of Functional Boss Behaviors by Alan Brunacini! TargetSafety has partnered with Retired Phoenix Fire Chief Alan Brunacini to develop an online training course based on his popular Functional Boss Behaviors book. The Functional Boss Behaviors series outlines ten rules for bosses in the fire industry to ensure their behavior creates an environment that helps workers to deliver standard service and added value directly to the customer. 2.4.08: General First Aid Course Updated
Based on feedback from our clients, we decided to break our General First Aid course into a two-part course. The new two-part course includes updated content, as well as new review exercises and test questions. 1.14.08: California Firefighter JAC Reporting Application
California Fire Departments reporting to the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee will be happy to hear that we have just finished a new application that supports tracking all JAC related training (both TargetSafety and other training) and reporting it directly to JAC each month. TargetSafety clients can refer to the Frequently Asked Questions we have prepared and contact TargetSafety Support to enable this new feature on your organization's PreventionLink website.

The first two courses in this program -- Driver Safety Orientation and Impaired Driving -- are now available.
12.19.07: New Employment Practices Series Launched
We recently launched a new employment practices series for supervisors. The series will include nine courses that provide an overview of issues encountered in the workplace, including issues of harassment, hiring and termination, discrimination, evaluation, and documentation. The first three courses in the series -- Employment Practices Overview, Sexual Harassment for Supervisors, and Interviewing and Hiring -- are now available.

12.02.07: More Secure Password Management
As part of our on-going security improvement process we have removed the administrative password lookup capability from the PreventionLink system. Users now are able to recover and change their passwords using our upgraded Account Recovery Tool.

NFPA 1001 Fire Streams
The newest course in the Firefighter I/II series – Fire Streams – is now available.
Course Description: The majority of fires are extinguished using water or some other substance delivered under pressure. In fact, the vast majority of training and skills that a firefighter might be called upon to deliver depend upon the successful use and deployment of fire streams. This course will examine the various types of fire stream and how they are deployed: Which hardware is used to produce effective fire streams? Which stream is appropriate for a particular type of fire or area? What concerns besides extinguishing the fire as quickly as possible must be considered? Although this course does not substitute for practical training, the concepts and ideas covered here can help you succeed in your fire organization career.

Water Supply
The next course in the Firefighter I/II series – Fire Industry Water Supply – is now available.
Course Description: Knowledge of water supply systems is an integral part of fire operations. Water is the primary extinguishing agent for fires, and for that reason firefighters must possess a solid knowledge where water supply is concerned. If water were to run out during an incident, firefighters could become trapped, injured, or killed. Firefighters must understand the principal aspects of water supply systems, how and where to access water, and what to do to prevent running out of water in an emergency. This course provides fire personnel with a basic overview of water supply systems, fire hydrants, and rural water supply operations.
